Volker Woerz

Volker Woerz has built his career at the intersection of creativity, production and business, working across multiple markets and international collaborations. His experience has given him a broad perspective on premium content creation and the evolving demands of the global film and television industries.

Over the past decade, he has held executive roles within the VFX sector, including co-founding and serving as Managing Partner of a premium visual effects studio with an international footprint. In that role, he helped drive the company’s global growth, develop strategic partnerships and establish its position within the high-end film and episodic production landscape.

Volker has led business development and executive-produced large-scale VFX projects for major studios and streaming platforms, including Paramount, Universal Pictures, Netflix, Amazon MGM Studios and Apple TV+.

His involvement in Jimsonweed grew from an established working relationship with founder Alonso Varela, who worked as VFX Supervisor for the company Volker co-founded and led. Their collaboration developed into a strong professional understanding and a shared vision of how international production experience, creative leadership and business strategy could come together within the studio Alonso was building in Asturias.

At Jimsonweed, Volker combines his experience in international business development, executive production and client relations with Alonso’s background in visual effects, filmmaking and studio development. Together, they are focused on expanding the company’s service business, building long-term international partnerships and developing the wider Jimsonweed ecosystem.
